The Royal Mail Hotel is in the middle of nowhere. We are a days drive from everywhere and we fully appreciate that whether you have just done that days drive, or that you have been working all day on a local mine site or pastoral station or you are one of our Meekatharra locals coming out for dinner, you deserve a decent meal.

Your food is very important to us and we only buy premium grade MSA Harvey Beef , well, actually all of our produce is premium purchased. Our fruit and vegetables are privately selected through a small company in Perth , then delivered twice a week and our seafood while obviously frozen, is premium quality.

The Royal Mail Hotel has a heated/air-conditioned tasteful and relaxing private dining room, or you can dine in our family friendly bistro. If you’re happy where you are, you can kick back and watch the big screen plasma TV while enjoying your meal in our bar. Or if the days been enough and you want absolute privacy, please feel free to take you’re dinner back to the comforts of your room.

While it’s all fine to have great produce and a selection of places to enjoy your meal, it means very little without that perfect ingredient, the put-it-together, the Chef.

Our fully qualified Chef, Michael Mullavey not only pieces together our ingredients, he also contributes to our family flair by being our cousin. This not only ensures Michael ’s passion for his food is passed onto you, so is his passion for the Royal Mail Hotel.

It’s taken us several years to convince Michael to make the “desert change” to Meekatharra, with Michael coming to us from Melbourne . Michael brings with him many years of extensive experience from some of Melbourne’s finest establishments and thankfully after years of working in the hustle and bustle of the big smoke, Michael has bought with him his quirky outlook on everything, but most importantly his wife Andrea and newborn baby Huey to the quieter life in the Gascoyne.

Our extensive menu should cater to the tastes of the most demanding customer, which is constantly changing to accommodate those who dine with us regularly. Our Chef’s recommendations are updated daily and are huge favorites. People with special diet requirements can be catered for, however prior advice is requested.

We sincerely hope you enjoy you dining experience at The Royal Mail and we challenge you to find better food in a small country hotel in Western Australia . If you do, please let us know, so that when we finally get a day off we’ll make sure we put it on our list of places to go.
